Open the calculatorLouisiana Rock Supply handles gravel and aggregate delivery in Dodson, LA, and the ground here sets the terms. Across the northern and western uplands the surface is sandy loam over clay, so water soaks in fast and then stops.
That is why 610 limestone goes down as a compacted base under drives and pads.
Water that moves sideways down a slope and gathers in the draws has to go somewhere. Washed stone with the fines taken out is what makes that work: Drain Rock for French drains, foundation perimeter drains, drywells and downspout runs.
Above the drainage layer, the base course carries the load. 610 Limestone is the Louisiana base size, stone dust up to about two inches, and the fines bind it so it hardens as it is rolled.
It goes under driveways, parking pads, shed pads and flatwork.
Road Base is the other base option, recycled Portland cement concrete crushed and screened with the fines left in. Louisiana permits it as a Class II base course material.
It is not crushed limestone, and the two are not the same product.
For a drive surface, clean stone lets water through instead of holding it. #57 Limestone runs about 3/4 inch with no fines, and #67 Stone is a little finer for drainage trenches, pipe bedding and concrete work.
Where the ground stays wet and soft, a coarse open stone is the better call. #4 Crushed Stone is roughly 1 1/2 inch, for heavy drainage, erosion work and stabilising wet ground.
Fine work takes finer stone. Stone Screenings bed and joint pavers and pack the top of a path, and Mason Sand is the washed sand for mortar, brick and block.

A dump truck tips the load on site in one pile.
Dodson sits in Winn Parish, and delivery covers the town and the surrounding area, including Winnfield, Sikes and Atlanta. Once the date is set, the truck arrives and tips the material where the pile is wanted.
Work runs year round here. What stops a compaction pass is wet clay in the draws, so timing a delivery around that matters more than the calendar.
The sandy loam surface takes water and the clay beneath it does not, so water moves sideways down the slopes and gathers in the draws. Slope, not a water table, is what moves it.
That is the reason a drainage layer earns its place under a drive or a pad.
Bare sandy slopes gully quickly once the cover is gone, and the draws scour at ditches and streams. Riprap and clean stone armour the edges where that cutting starts.
Raising low ground is a separate job from surfacing it. Select Fill, and spillway dirt as a second term, compacts rather than settling, so it goes under a base course.
Top Soil is the growing layer for lawns and beds over ground that is more often heavy clay than anything a lawn wants.

What buyers ask us before they order.
Yes. Louisiana Rock Supply delivers 610 limestone to Dodson and the surrounding part of Winn Parish, including Winnfield, Sikes and Atlanta. You order online by the ton or by the yard, size the load on the product page calculator, and choose a delivery date at checkout. A dump truck then tips the load on site.
It depends on what the drive sits on. A drive that needs a compacted base takes 610 limestone, which binds and hardens as it is rolled. Topping an existing base or surfacing a drive that already drains well takes a clean stone such as #57 Limestone. Where the ground stays wet, a coarser open stone drains better.
Wherever you tell us, as long as the truck can safely reach it. Mark the spot before the delivery and someone should be on site to point the driver to it. If nobody can be there, leave clear instructions when you order and we will follow them.
