Open the calculatorIf you are pricing gravel and aggregate delivery in Ball, LA, the first question is usually which stone holds a slope and which stone moves water. Louisiana Rock Supply delivers bulk material by the ton, and 610 limestone is the base most driveways and pads here start from.
This part of Rapides Parish sits on sandy loam ridges with clay down in the draws, so water runs sideways instead of soaking in. That shapes what you order.
Start with the coarse end, because slope, swale and bank protection is where the wrong stone shows up fastest. Riprap is angular stone for bank and shoreline armour, canal and bayou edges, and slope protection.
Rounded stone does not lock together, so it is not bank armour. Large river rock is for dry creek beds, decorative edging and low banks, and it belongs where nothing has to hold.
Below that, #4 crushed stone is a coarse clean stone at roughly 1 1/2 inch for heavy drainage, erosion work and stabilising very wet ground. Railroad ballast is the same idea for track beds, heavy equipment pads and ground that stays wet.
For a driveway or a shed pad, 610 Limestone is the Louisiana base. Stone dust up to about two inches, with the fines left in so it binds and hardens as it is rolled.
Road Base is a base layer of recycled Portland cement concrete, crushed and screened with the fines left in. Louisiana permits it as a Class II base course material.
Where water has to pass rather than sit, Drain Rock is clean washed stone with the fines taken out. It goes in French drains, foundation perimeter drains, drywells and downspout runs.
#57 Limestone is the clean open graded size at about 3/4 inch with no fines. Use it for a driveway surface, drainage and concrete work.
#67 Stone is a little finer and suits drainage trenches, pipe bedding and concrete. #8 Crushed Stone runs about 3/8 inch for fine drainage and paver bedding.
At the fine end, Stone Screenings bed and joint pavers and pack the top of a path. Mason Sand is the finest washed sand, for mortar, brick and block work and a smooth paver setting bed.

A dump truck tips the load in one pile at your site. Louisiana Rock Supply delivers across Ball and the rest of Rapides Parish, including Alexandria, Pineville, Woodworth, Glenmora and Boyce.
Across the northern and western uplands, the surface is sandy loam over Tertiary sands and clays, rolling rather than flat. The sandy loam takes water and the clay beneath it does not, so water moves sideways down the slopes and gathers in the draws.
That is why slope, not a water table, is what moves water here. A swale or a bank that sheds water keeps the ground below it from staying soft.
Bare sandy slopes gully quickly once the cover is gone, and ditches in the draws scour. Riprap and #4 crushed stone address that; large river rock does not.
Work runs year round in this part of the state. Wet clay in the draws is what stops a compaction pass, so time a base course for ground that has drained.
Where the ground sits low, select fill raises it and compacts rather than settling, so it goes under a base course and not under a lawn. River silt is the Louisiana name for fine alluvial fill from the river bottoms, and yards list it beside fill dirt and spillway dirt as a grade raising material.
Top soil is the growing layer for lawns, beds and grade repair over ground that is more often heavy clay than anything a lawn wants. Garden soil is a blended planting soil for raised beds and vegetable gardens, which matter here because the natural ground sits wet.
Louisiana Rock Supply delivers bulk gravel, crushed stone, sand, topsoil and fill across Ball and Rapides Parish, from 610 limestone for a base to riprap for a bank. Choose your material, set the quantity, and pick a delivery date at checkout to get your order on the way.
What buyers ask us before they order.
It depends on what the water is doing. For a French drain, drywell or downspout run, Drain Rock is clean washed stone with the fines removed, so water passes through it. For a drainage trench or pipe bedding, #67 Stone is a clean stone a little finer than #57 Limestone. Where a slope or a bank is cutting, use angular stone such as RipRap or #4 Crushed Stone, because rounded stone will not hold.
Have the drop spot clear and reachable, because the truck tips the load in one pile and the driver does not spread it. Order online, choose your quantity by the ton or by the yard, and pick a delivery date at checkout. If you want to size the load first, each product page has a calculator.
A clear, level spot the truck can reach and tip in, with nothing parked in the way and no low branches or wires over the approach. If the drop is behind a gate, tell us the width when you order. Soft ground after rain is the usual reason a delivery in Ball has to be moved, so point out anywhere the truck should not drive.
