Open the calculatorLouisiana Rock Supply offers gravel and aggregate delivery in Glynn, LA for contractors and homeowners alike. Some come for a paver patio or a shed pad, others for a driveway that needs rebuilding.
Most of that work starts with 610 limestone by its local name, laid over ground that is heavy clay more often than not.
Across the Mississippi and Red River alluvial plains, the ground is recent alluvium: silty clay and clay loam, deep and heavy, with sandier ridges along the old channels and backswamp clay in the low spots.
The water table sits high, and that clay will not take water. Flat land and heavy soil mean rain sits until it is ditched or pumped away.
For a patio or a flatwork pour, that is the failure mode. A thin base over wet clay moves, and the surface above it cracks or settles out of level.
The fix is a compacted base that spreads the load and a clean drainage layer that gives water somewhere to go instead of holding it under the slab.
Work runs year round here. Heavy rain and saturated clay, not cold, are what stop a compaction pass, so timing around the weather matters more than the season.
Bedding under pavers and flatwork is the part that decides how the finished surface holds up. The material below the surface does the work, so it is worth choosing deliberately.
For a paver patio, walkway or slab, bedding is usually a fine washed sand or a fine crushed stone spread to a consistent, workable layer. Mason Sand is the finest washed sand, and it suits a smooth paver setting bed and mortar work.
Washed Sand, also called river sand here, beds pipe and flatwork and backfills where a clean fine material is wanted. Stone Screenings, the limestone crusher fines, pack firm under pavers and on top of a path.
Under any of that, the base course is 610 Limestone, also called #610, 610 base or CR610. It is crushed limestone with stone dust up to about two inches, and the fines bind it so it hardens as it is rolled.
Where recycled material suits the job, Crushed Concrete is recycled Portland cement concrete crushed and screened with the fines left in. It is a different material from crushed limestone, and Louisiana permits it as a Class II base course material.
For drainage beside a patio or along a foundation, clean open graded stone is what works. #57 Limestone is about 3/4 inch with no fines, and Drain Rock is washed clean for French drains, drywells and downspout runs.

What buyers ask us before they order.
It depends on the drive. A new or rebuilt drive needs a compacted base course, and 610 limestone is the Louisiana base for that work, with the fines binding it as it is rolled. For the surface layer, #57 Limestone is a clean open graded stone about 3/4 inch with no fines. On ground this wet, a clean stone that lets water through is often the better surface choice.
That comes down to the area you are covering and the layer you want, so the quantity is best sized from your own numbers. Each product page has a calculator to help you work it out. You then order by the ton or by the yard and choose a delivery date at checkout.
You can order by the ton or by the cubic yard, whichever suits how you plan the job. If you tell us the area you are covering and the depth you want, we will work the quantity out with you rather than leaving you to guess.
