Open the calculatorGravel and aggregate delivery in New Roads, LA runs year round, but heavy rain and saturated clay are what stop a compaction pass. Louisiana Rock Supply delivers bulk material here by the ton, and 610 limestone is the base the work starts from.
New Roads sits in Pointe Coupee Parish, on ground laid down by the rivers. The clay holds water, so the bedding under a patio or a flat slab has to be planned before anything is poured.
Across the Mississippi and Red River alluvial plains, the ground is silty clay and clay loam, deep and heavy. The natural levee ridges drain by themselves, and the low ground between them holds rain until it is ditched away.
A thin base shows its failure fast on that ground. The clay underneath will not take water, so the base layer stays wet and moves under a slab, and the slab cracks at the edge.
The fix is a base that is thick enough and open enough to shed water sideways. On ground with a water table this close to the surface, the drainage layer is the part that has to work.
Work runs year round here. Heavy rain and saturated clay, not cold, are what stop a compaction pass, so a pad is built on a dry stretch.
Bank cutting along the rivers and bayous, sheet flow across bare clay after a hard rain, and ditch scour all move soil. Riprap is angular stone for that work, used on bank and shoreline armour and canal edges.
Bedding under pavers and flatwork is where the material choice shows. The bedding layer has to sit flat, hold its shape under the paver, and let water move instead of trapping it.
610 Limestone, also called #610, 610 base or CR610, is the Louisiana base size: stone dust up to about two inches, so the fines bind it and it hardens as it is rolled. It goes under driveways, parking pads, shed and building pads, and the compacted layer under flatwork.
Crushed Concrete, or recycled base and 610 concrete, is recycled Portland cement concrete crushed and screened with the fines left in. Louisiana permits it as a Class II base course material, and it is a base layer, not crushed quarry stone.
Stone Screenings are the crusher fines that pass the finest screen. They bed pavers and pack the top of a path, and they are the material that sits directly under the paver.
Mason Sand is the finest washed sand, used for mortar, brick and block work and for a smooth paver setting bed. Washed Sand, also called river sand, beds pipe and flatwork and backfills where a clean fine material is wanted.
For the open work, #57 Limestone is the clean open graded size, about 3/4 inch with no fines, and it is the usual choice for drainage and concrete work. #67 Stone is a clean stone a little finer, for drainage trenches, pipe bedding and concrete.
#8 Crushed Stone is a small clean stone, roughly 3/8 inch, for fine drainage and paver bedding. #89 Crushed Stone is finer again, for paver joints and thin bedding layers.
Drain Rock is clean washed stone with the fines taken out, for French drains, foundation perimeter drains, drywells and downspout runs. #4 Crushed Stone, roughly 1 1/2 inch, is the coarse clean stone for heavy drainage and for stabilising very wet ground.

What buyers ask us before they order.
It depends on which layer you are building. For the base, 610 limestone is the Louisiana base size, with fines that bind and harden as it is rolled. For the surface, #57 limestone is a clean open graded stone about 3/4 inch with no fines, and it drains. Crushed concrete is a base layer of recycled concrete, not crushed limestone.
Each product page has a calculator, and quantities are ordered by the ton or by the yard. Sizing the load there keeps the order matched to the area you are covering, whether it is a paver bed, a driveway base or a drainage run. Pick a delivery date at checkout and a dump truck tips the load on site.
Place the order with the date you want and we confirm the delivery window back to you. Give us as much notice as you can for New Roads so you get the slot you want rather than the one that is left, and tell us up front if the site is only reachable at certain times.
