Open the calculatorLouisiana Rock Supply handles gravel and aggregate delivery in Pride, LA. Most of the year works for a delivery here, but wet silt will not compact and it moves when it is wet, so timing matters.
Start with 610 limestone, the local base, and build your path or pad from there. Order online and a truck brings it to your site.
Pride sits on the loess bluffs above the Mississippi. That ground is wind laid silt, deep and fine and easy to work, and it erodes faster than almost any other soil in the state.
A thin base course is the failure you see first. Silt takes water readily and then carries it, so water moving over a stripped face cuts a channel fast.
A drive built across a slope becomes that channel. Bare silt gullies the moment the cover comes off, and the fix is a base that binds and a surface that sheds water.
This is not the heavy clay problem the rest of Louisiana fights. Fine silt holds a steep face and then loses it, so a pad built up out of the wet ground needs material that compacts rather than settles.
Paths and walkways here want fines and screenings. The crusher fines that pass the finest screen pack down underfoot and stay put on a slope.
Use Stone Screenings as a bedding and joint material under pavers and as a packing top for a garden path. For a finer walkway surface, 3/8" Crushed Stone beds pavers and tops a walk.
Walkway Gravel is the finer gravel that packs underfoot, for paths where you want a finished surface rather than loose stone. Where a path crosses wet ground, put a clean stone under it and keep the fines on top.
For a driveway or pad, 610 Limestone is the Louisiana base. Stone dust up to about two inches, so the fines bind it and it hardens as it is rolled.
It goes under drives, parking pads, shed pads and flatwork, and it is the compacted layer, not the surface.
For the clean sizes, #57 Limestone is the open graded stone at about 3/4 inch with no fines, and it is the usual choice for drainage and concrete work. Drain Rock is washed clean with the fines taken out, for French drains, foundation perimeter drains, drywells and downspout runs.
Crushed concrete is another base option. It is recycled Portland cement concrete, crushed and screened to a dense graded size with the fines left in, and Louisiana permits it as a Class II base course material.
For low ground, Select Fill raises a pad up out of the water. It compacts rather than settling, so it goes under a base course and not under a lawn.
Top Soil and Garden Soil cover the growing layer once the grade is right.

A dump truck tips the load in one pile at your site. Have the spot clear and reachable so the truck can back in and dump without obstruction.
Figure your quantity first, then order online and pick a delivery date. If you are surfacing a path, the fines and screenings sizes are the ones to start with.

What buyers ask us before they order.
Have the dump spot clear and wide enough for a truck to back in, and keep gates, low wires and parked vehicles out of the way. The truck tips the load in one pile where it stops, so choose that spot before the delivery date. The driver does not spread or place material, so plan how you will move it from the pile.
Use 610 limestone as the compacted base under the pavers, then bed them in Stone Screenings or Mason Sand for a smooth setting layer. The 610 binds because the fines are left in, so it hardens as it is rolled. The silt ground here takes water readily, so the base carries the load and keeps the pavers from shifting.
Place the order with the date you want and we confirm the delivery window back to you. Give us as much notice as you can for Pride so you get the slot you want rather than the one that is left, and tell us up front if the site is only reachable at certain times.
