Open the calculatorPlanning gravel and aggregate delivery in Cut Off, LA usually starts with one job: a driveway that will not hold, a patio base, or a drainage run that has to move water off a wet lot.
Louisiana Rock Supply delivers bulk material to Lafourche Parish, starting with 610 limestone, the crushed limestone base local crews specify by name.
If you are surfacing a path or walkway instead, the finer grades are the ones that matter, and they behave very differently from base stone.
Across the deltaic plain, the marsh and the Chenier coast, the ground is organic muck and soft clay, under consolidated and highly compressible. Firm ground tends to sit on natural levee ridges and old distributary channels.
A thin layer of stone spread over that kind of ground fails in a familiar way. The soft clay beneath it pumps, the stone sinks and mixes in, and the surface ruts under a truck tire within a season.
The water table sits at or near the surface across this part of the state, and the soil is already saturated. Water does not leave by draining downward here; it goes by pump, canal or not at all.
That changes what a base course is doing for you. A pad built on muck settles under its own weight before anything heavy is parked on it, so the material under the surface has to bridge soft ground rather than sit on it.
The working season runs year round. Rain and high water interrupt a pour or a delivery window far more often than cold ever does, so plan around water rather than temperature.
For paths and walkways, the fines-bearing materials do the work. Stone Screenings, also called limestone screenings, are the crusher fines that pass the finest screen.
Screenings bed pavers and pack down as a top for a walking path. They hold a surface because the fine particles knit together underfoot instead of rolling away.
Walkway Gravel is the next step up, a finer gravel that packs underfoot for garden paths. For a patio setting bed, Mason Sand is the finest washed sand and gives a smooth surface to lay pavers on.
Where a walkway crosses wet ground, put a clean open stone underneath first. Drain Rock is washed stone with the fines taken out, and it carries water instead of holding it.
When the job is a driveway or parking pad rather than a path, the base material changes. 610 Limestone, also called #610 or 610 base, is crushed limestone base graded with stone dust up to about two inches, so the fines bind it and it hardens as it is rolled.
The supporting sizes are the clean, open graded stones. #57 Limestone runs about 3/4 inch with no fines, and it is the usual choice for a driveway surface, drainage and concrete work.
Finer drainage trenches and pipe bedding take #67 Stone. Heavier drainage, erosion work and very wet ground take #4 Crushed Stone at roughly 1 1/2 inch.
For soft spots and raising low ground, Select Fill compacts rather than settling and belongs under a base course, not under a lawn.

What buyers ask us before they order.
Clear the spot where the pile will go and make sure the truck can reach it. Because the truck tips the load in one pile and the driver does not spread it, have your own equipment ready to move material from the pile to the work area.
With the water table at or near the surface across this part of the state, the base has to manage water as well as carry weight. Put Drain Rock underneath for drainage, then bed the pavers in Stone Screenings or Mason Sand on top.
We would rather move a delivery than tear up your ground. If the site is too wet for the truck on the day, we will call you and rebook. Tell us in advance about any part of the approach that does not drain and we will plan around it.
