Order gravel and aggregate delivery in Folsom, LA online. Louisiana Rock Supply sells bulk material by the ton or by the yard, and a dump truck tips it on your site.

Start with 610 limestone, the Louisiana base material. It is the compacted layer under driveways, parking pads and flatwork, and the layer most patio and paver work here rests on.

Ground and Conditions in Folsom

Folsom sits in St. Tammany Parish, on the Florida parishes pine flatwoods.

The ground is level to gently sloping terrace under pine, with a sandy or silt loam surface.

Under that sandy surface sits a dense, slowly permeable subsoil. Water gets through the top layer and then stops, so the wet season pushes the water table up into the root zone and it stays there.

The surface looks free draining and the layer beneath it is not. That is why a thin bedding layer under pavers and flatwork fails here: the ground under it holds water, and the bedding stone moves and pumps instead of staying put.

Exposed flat grade also sheds water as sheet flow. Bare sandy ground rills and cuts, and ditch banks scour where the grade is left open.

Work runs year round in this part of Louisiana. The calendar is set by how wet the ground is, not by cold.

Bedding under pavers and flatwork

Bedding is the layer that lets a paver sit flat and stay flat. On ground this wet, the bedding material has to drain or the base under it has to shed water away.

Use Stone Screenings for a paver setting bed and for the joints between units. Limestone screenings are the crusher fines that pass the finest screen, and they pack underfoot.

Use Mason Sand where you want a smooth setting bed for brick, block or a tight paver finish. It is the finest washed sand, and it also mixes into mortar.

Use Washed Sand as a clean fine bedding and backfill material under pipe and flatwork. Louisiana yards also call it river sand.

For a patio edge or a walkway surface, 3/8" Crushed Stone is a fine crushed size that beds pavers and tops a path. #89 Crushed Stone is finer still, for paver joints and thin bedding layers.

Materials for Folsom Projects

Lead with 610 limestone. It is also called #610, 610 base or CR610, and it runs from stone dust up to about two inches, so the fines bind it into a hard, compacted layer.

That makes 610 Limestone the base for driveways, parking pads, shed and building pads, and the compacted layer under flatwork. It is the material a Louisiana buyer asks for by that number.

Crushed Concrete is the other base option. It is recycled Portland cement concrete, crushed and screened to a dense graded size with the fines left in, and Louisiana permits it as a Class II base course material.

For the clean side, #57 Limestone is about 3/4 inch with no fines. It drains, so it suits a driveway surface, drainage work and concrete.

#67 Stone is a little finer than #57, for drainage trenches, pipe bedding and concrete. #4 Crushed Stone is coarse, roughly 1 1/2 inch, for heavy drainage and wet ground.

#8 Crushed Stone is a small clean stone, roughly 3/8 inch, for fine drainage and paver bedding. Drain Rock is washed clean with the fines taken out, for French drains, perimeter drains and downspout runs.

For grade work, Select Fill raises low ground and builds a pad up out of the water. It compacts rather than settling, so it belongs under a base course.

Top Soil is the growing layer for lawns and beds, and Garden Soil is a blended planting soil for raised beds and vegetables.

Before you order

What buyers ask us before they order.

What gravel is best for a driveway in Folsom?

Start with 610 limestone as the base layer, because its fines bind and it hardens into a compacted surface. Top it with #57 limestone, the clean 3/4 inch stone that drains. On ground where the water table sits high, Drain Rock in a drainage run helps move water away from the drive.

How much material will my project need?

Quantities are ordered by the ton or by the yard, and each product page has a calculator to size the load. Have your measurements ready before you order. The calculator turns them into a quantity you can order online, and you choose a delivery date at checkout.

What happens if the weather turns?

We would rather move a delivery than tear up your ground. If the site is too wet for the truck on the day, we will call you and rebook. Tell us in advance about any part of the approach that does not drain and we will plan around it.
