Open the calculatorOrder gravel and aggregate delivery in Robert, LA the simple way: online, by the ton or the yard, with Louisiana Rock Supply. Start with 610 limestone, the crushed limestone base sold here as #610, 610 base or CR610.
Ground in the Florida parishes pine flatwoods sits wet more of the year than it looks. Pick the material for the job, size the load, and set a delivery date at checkout.
A dump truck tips it on site.
Base comes first on most ground here. 610 Limestone is stone dust up to about two inches, so the fines bind it and it hardens as it is rolled.
It carries driveways, parking pads, shed and building pads, and the compacted layer under flatwork.
Crushed Concrete gives you a second base option. It is recycled Portland cement concrete, crushed and screened to a dense graded size with the fines left in, and Louisiana permits it as a Class II base course material.
It is not crushed limestone.
Surface a finished base with clean stone. #57 Limestone runs about 3/4 inch with no fines, for a driveway surface, drainage and concrete work.
#67 Stone is a little finer, for drainage trenches, pipe bedding and concrete.
Wet spots call for open stone. #4 Crushed Stone is roughly 1 1/2 inch, coarse and clean, for heavy drainage, erosion work and stabilising very wet ground.
#8 Crushed Stone is roughly 3/8 inch, for fine drainage and paver bedding.
For water that has to move, Drain Rock is clean washed stone with the fines taken out, used in French drains, foundation perimeter drains, drywells and downspout runs. On ground this flat, the drainage layer is the part that has to work.
Sand beds and packs. Mason Sand is the finest washed sand, for mortar, brick and block work and for a smooth paver setting bed.
Washed Sand, also called river sand, beds pipe and flatwork and backfills where a clean fine material is wanted.
Soil and fill fix grade. Select Fill raises low ground and builds a pad up out of the water, and compacts rather than settling.
Top Soil is the growing layer for lawns, beds and grade repair.
Decorative stone finishes beds. Natural Pea Gravel is rounded pea sized gravel for paths, dog runs and play areas.
River Rock covers beds and borders where nothing has to compact.
Rain has nowhere to go on flat ground. Across the Florida parishes pine flatwoods, a sandy or silt loam surface sits over a dense, slowly permeable subsoil.
Water that gets through the sand stops at that layer and stays.
So the water table rises into the root zone in the wet season and sits there. The surface looks sandy and free draining.
The layer under it is not, and that gap is what catches people out.
Build for the wet season, not the dry one. A fines-bearing base like 610 limestone needs ground that will hold it, so a drainage layer under or beside it does real work.
Where the subsoil stays saturated, clean open stone drains and fines-bearing stone does not.
Bare flat grade also moves water sideways. Expect sheet flow across exposed ground, ditch scour, and rill cutting in the sandy surface where grade is left bare.
Riprap and coarse stone hold edges and slopes; rounded stone does not lock together and will not armour a bank.
Work runs year round here. The calendar is set by how wet the ground is rather than how cold it gets, so timing follows the water table and not the season.
