Bare sandy slopes in this part of the state cut into gullies fast once the cover is gone. Stone is how you put the cover back.

Pick your delivery date at checkout and the truck tips the load on site in one pile. Logansport sits in De Soto Parish, and delivery reaches Mansfield, Stonewall, Grand Cane, Gloster and Frierson as well.
Start with the project, not the product name. A bed, a border or a dry creek bed wants rounded decorative stone that never has to lock together or carry weight.
River Rock is the rounded stone for beds, borders and open ground cover. Large River Rock is the cobble size for dry creek beds, decorative edging and low banks.
Rounded stone does not lock together, so it will not armour a bank. For that you want RipRap, angular stone that holds a shoreline, a canal edge or a slope.
For a driveway or a parking pad, 610 limestone is the base: stone dust up to about two inches, with the fines that bind it and harden it as it is rolled.
Crushed Concrete is the recycled option for the same job, crushed Portland cement concrete screened dense graded with the fines left in, and Louisiana permits it as a Class II base course material.
Surface the drive with #57 Limestone, the clean open graded size at about 3/4 inch with no fines. Driveway Gravel does the same work of surfacing an existing drive or topping a finished base course.
For drainage, Drain Rock is clean washed stone with the fines taken out, for French drains, foundation perimeter drains, drywells and downspout runs. #4 Crushed Stone is the coarse clean size, roughly 1 1/2 inch, for heavy drainage, erosion work and wet ground.
Paths and walkways take a finer grade. Walkway Gravel packs underfoot, and Stone Screenings are the crusher fines that bed pavers and pack the top of a path.
Sand and soil round out a build. Mason Sand is the finest washed sand, for mortar, brick and block work and a smooth paver setting bed.
Top Soil is the growing layer for lawns and beds, and Garden Soil is a blended planting soil for raised beds and vegetable gardens.
Across the northern and western uplands the surface is sandy loam over Tertiary sands and clays. The ground rolls rather than lying flat, with sandy loam ridges and clay down in the draws.
That sandy loam takes water and the clay beneath it does not, so water moves sideways down the slopes and gathers in the draws. Slope, not a water table, is what moves it here.
An under-built base fails on that movement. A fines-bearing material such as 610 limestone binds and hardens when it is compacted, which is why it goes under the surface rather than on it.
Erosion shows up as gully cutting on bare sandy slopes and as stream and ditch scour in the draws. Riprap and large river rock hold the edges where the water runs.
Work runs year round. Wet clay in the draws is what stops a compaction pass, so a pad built on Select Fill compacts instead of settling.
610 limestone is the base for drives, pads and the layer under flatwork in Logansport, and the decorative stone covers the beds and dry creek beds around it. Louisiana Rock Supply sells both online by the ton or the yard.

What buyers ask us before they order.
Quantities are ordered by the ton or by the yard, and each product page has a calculator you can use to size the load. Have your measurements ready before you order. If the numbers look close, order what you measured rather than guessing at the pile.
