Start with 610 limestone if you are building a drive or a pad. The sandy loam ridges around here drain, but the clay in the draws does not, and that shapes what you order.
Slope, swale and bank work is the first thing to sort out on a Mansfield lot. Water moves sideways down the slopes and gathers in the draws, so the coarse end of the size range does the heavy lifting.
RipRap is angular stone for bank and shoreline armour, canal and bayou edges, and slope protection. Rounded stone does not lock together, so it is not bank armour.
#4 Crushed Stone is the coarse clean size at roughly 1 1/2 inch. Use it for heavy drainage, erosion work and stabilising very wet ground.
Railroad Ballast is coarse angular stone for track beds, heavy equipment pads and very wet ground where a large open stone is wanted.
Large River Rock is rounded cobble for dry creek beds, decorative edging and low banks. Keep it off slopes that need to hold.
Below that, #57 Limestone is the clean open graded size at about 3/4 inch with no fines, for drainage and concrete work. #67 Stone is a little finer, for drainage trenches and pipe bedding.
For a compacted layer, 610 Limestone is the Louisiana base: stone dust up to about two inches, so the fines bind it and it hardens as it is rolled. It goes under drives, parking pads and flatwork.
Crushed Concrete is recycled Portland cement concrete, crushed and screened to a dense graded size with the fines left in. Louisiana permits it as a Class II base course material.
Drain Rock is clean washed stone with the fines taken out, for French drains, foundation perimeter drains, drywells and downspout runs. Where ground sits wet, the drainage layer is the part that has to work.
Stone Screenings are the crusher fines that pass the finest screen, used to bed pavers and pack the top of a path. Mason Sand is the finest washed sand, for mortar, brick and block work.
For ground that needs raising, Select Fill compacts rather than settling, so it goes under a base course and not under a lawn. Top Soil is the growing layer for lawns and beds.

Mansfield sits in De Soto Parish, and delivery covers the surrounding area, including Stonewall, Logansport, Grand Cane, Gloster and Frierson. Bulk loads go straight to the address you enter.
Work runs year round here. Wet clay in the draws is what stops a compaction pass, so timing a delivery around that matters more than the calendar.
Across the northern and western uplands, the surface is sandy loam over Tertiary sands and clays, rolling rather than flat. The sandy loam takes water and the clay beneath it does not, so water moves sideways down the slopes and gathers in the draws.
Slope rather than a water table is what moves water here, which is why swales and banks need coarse stone. Bare sandy slopes cut into gullies quickly once the cover is gone, and the draws scour.
Build the base course over ground that has been raised and compacted, not over a wet draw. That is where select fill earns its place, and where 610 limestone locks up once it is rolled.
Louisiana Rock Supply delivers bulk gravel, stone, sand, topsoil and fill across Mansfield and De Soto Parish, from Stonewall to Logansport and Grand Cane. Size your load on the calculator, choose your date at checkout, and a truck brings it to your site.
What buyers ask us before they order.
It depends on the job. Drain Rock is clean washed stone for French drains, perimeter drains and downspout runs. #4 Crushed Stone suits heavy drainage and very wet ground, while #57 Limestone and #67 Stone cover trenches and pipe bedding. For a slope or bank, RipRap is the angular choice.
A clear spot for one pile, with room for the truck to reach it and turn around. The driver tips the load and leaves it where it lands, so pick a spot you can work from. Have your quantity settled before checkout and the drop point clear on the day.
A clear, level spot the truck can reach and tip in, with nothing parked in the way and no low branches or wires over the approach. If the drop is behind a gate, tell us the width when you order. Soft ground after rain is the usual reason a delivery in Mansfield has to be moved, so point out anywhere the truck should not drive.
