This is deltaic plain ground, where the water table sits at or near the surface and the soil stays saturated. That shapes what you order and how you bed it.
Across the deltaic plain, the marsh and the Chenier coast, the ground is organic muck and soft clay, under consolidated and highly compressible. Firm ground shows up on natural levee ridges and old distributary channels.
Water does not drain downward here. It leaves by pump or canal, or it sits, and a pad on muck settles under its own weight before anything parks on it.
A paver patio or a slab poured over a thin base course shows the failure fast. The surface rocks, joints open, and the edges drop where the subgrade gave way underneath.
The fix is a compacted base course that spreads the load, plus a drainage layer that moves water sideways instead of letting it pool. Bedding sits on top of that, not on the native soil.
Work runs year round, interrupted by rain and high water rather than cold. Time the pour and the bedding for a dry stretch.
Bedding under pavers and flatwork is where most of these projects start, and it has to be the right material for the layer. Fine, clean stone packs flat and holds a paver true, while a fines-bearing base goes underneath to carry the load.
Start with 610 Limestone, also called #610, 610 base or CR610. It is the Louisiana base size, running from stone dust up to about two inches, so the fines bind it and it hardens as it is rolled.
Use it for driveways, parking pads, shed and building pads, and the compacted layer under flatwork.
Crushed Concrete, sold locally as recycled base or 610 concrete, is recycled Portland cement concrete crushed and screened to a dense graded size with the fines left in. Louisiana permits it as a Class II base course material.
It is a base layer, not crushed quarry stone.
For the bedding and joint layer, Stone Screenings are the crusher fines that pass the finest screen. They bed pavers, pack joints and top a path.
Mason Sand is the finest washed sand, for mortar, brick and block work and for a smooth paver setting bed.
Where drainage has to work, Drain Rock is clean washed stone with the fines taken out, for French drains, foundation perimeter drains, drywells and downspout runs. #57 Limestone is the clean open graded size at about 3/4 inch with no fines, for a driveway surface, drainage and concrete work.
You order online and choose a quantity by the ton or by the yard. Each product page has a calculator if you want to size the load before checkout, and you pick a delivery date there.
A dump truck tips the load in one pile at the address you give. Plan where that pile should sit before the truck arrives, because the driver does not spread or spot it.
Marrero sits in Jefferson Parish, and delivery covers the surrounding area, including Metairie, Kenner, Harvey, Gretna and Westwego.
Start with 610 limestone as the base course. Its fines bind and harden as it is rolled, which is what a drive over soft deltaic ground needs.
Top it with #57 limestone if you want a clean, open graded surface that sheds water, or with crushed concrete if you want a recycled dense graded base.
Each product page has a calculator, so you can work out the tonnage or yardage for your own area and depth. Quantities are ordered by the ton or by the yard, and you choose the amount at checkout before you pick a delivery date.
