Open the calculatorLouisiana Rock Supply brings gravel and aggregate delivery in Grand Isle, LA, with 610 limestone leading the load. That base is the Louisiana standard: stone dust up to about two inches, with the fines left in so it binds and hardens as it is rolled.
From there you can add clean stone, sand, soil or decorative rock to finish the job. This is Jefferson Parish, and the ground here is coastal marsh, so what goes under a pad matters as much as what sits on top of it.
Start with the base layer, because a drive or a pad on this ground needs one that compacts. 610 limestone, also called #610 or 610 base, is crushed limestone base for driveways, parking pads and the compacted layer under flatwork.
Crushed concrete, sold locally as recycled base or 610 concrete, does the same job as a dense graded base course. It is recycled Portland cement concrete, screened with the fines left in, and Louisiana permits it as a Class II base course material.
Over a finished base, a clean stone gives you a hard surface that lets water through. #57 Limestone runs about 3/4 inch with no fines, and it is the usual choice for a driveway surface, drainage work and concrete.
#67 Stone is a little finer than #57, which suits drainage trenches, pipe bedding and concrete. Where you need something coarser, #4 Crushed Stone runs roughly 1 1/2 inch for heavy drainage and wet, soft ground.
Sand and soil cover the flatwork and planting side. Mason Sand is the finest washed sand, for mortar, brick and block work and for a smooth paver setting bed.
Top Soil is the growing layer for lawns and beds, over ground that is heavy clay more often than not.
Across the deltaic plain, the marsh and the Chenier coast, the ground is organic muck and soft clay, under consolidated and highly compressible. Firm ground shows up on natural levee ridges and old channels, not in the marsh itself.
The water table sits at or near the surface and the ground is already saturated. Water here does not drain downward; it leaves by pump or canal, or it stays.
That changes what you order. A pad built on muck settles under its own weight before anything is parked on it, so the structural work goes into select fill, which compacts rather than settling, and into a base course above it.
Drainage is the other half. Drain Rock is clean washed stone with the fines taken out, for French drains, foundation perimeter drains and drywells.
On ground this wet, the drainage layer is the part that has to work.
Erosion is a real concern along open water, where storm surge and wave action work on canal and bayou banks. RipRap is angular stone for bank and shoreline armour and slope protection.
Rounded stone does not lock together, so river rock is not bank armour.
Work runs year round here, interrupted by rain and high water rather than by cold. Louisiana design criteria are about wind and water, and there is no frost depth to build to.
Order online and a dump truck tips your material on site in one pile. You choose the quantity by the ton or by the yard, and each product page has a calculator to help you size the load before you check out.
Have the drop area clear and reachable by a truck, and know where you want the pile to land. The driver tips the load; he does not spread it or move it after the fact.

A clear, level spot the truck can reach and tip in, with nothing parked in the way and no low branches or wires over the approach. If the drop is behind a gate, tell us the width when you order. Soft ground after rain is the usual reason a delivery in Grand Isle has to be moved, so point out anywhere the truck should not drive.
