Open the calculatorLouisiana Rock Supply handles gravel and aggregate delivery in Mer Rouge, LA. Slope moves the water here, not a water table.
Bare sandy ground cuts into gullies fast once the cover is gone.
Start with 610 limestone for a base. Then pick the coarse stone that answers the slope.
Water on a slope needs stone that lets it through or stone that holds the bank. Match the size to the job.
RipRap is angular stone for bank and shoreline armour, canal and bayou edges, and slope protection. Angular faces lock together and stay put.
Large River Rock is rounded cobble for dry creek beds, decorative edging and low banks. Rounded stone does not lock together, so it is not bank armour.
Railroad Ballast is coarse angular stone for track beds, heavy equipment pads and very wet ground where you want a large open stone.
#4 Crushed Stone runs roughly 1 1/2 inch. Use it for heavy drainage, erosion work and stabilising very wet ground.
Drain Rock is clean washed stone with the fines taken out. It suits French drains, foundation perimeter drains, drywells and downspout runs.
#57 Limestone is the clean open graded size, about 3/4 inch with no fines. Use it for drainage and concrete work.
610 Limestone is the Louisiana base: stone dust up to about two inches, and the fines bind it and harden it as it is rolled.
It goes under driveways, parking pads, shed and building pads, and the compacted layer under flatwork. Crushed Concrete is recycled Portland cement concrete crushed and screened with the fines left in.
Louisiana permits it as a Class II base course material. Walkway Gravel packs underfoot for garden paths.
Mer Rouge sits in Morehouse Parish, and delivery covers the town and the roads around it. Bastrop, Collinston, Bonita, Oak Ridge and Jones fall inside the same coverage.

Work runs year round across the northern and western uplands. Wet clay in the draws is what stops a compaction pass.
The sandy loam surface takes water, and the clay beneath it does not. Water moves sideways down the slopes and gathers in the draws.
That is why the drainage layer is the part that has to work. Gully cutting on bare sandy slopes goes quickly once the cover is gone, and stream and ditch scour works the draws.
Time a delivery so the ground is workable and the stone goes where it needs to sit. Coarse open stone handles the wet ground.
610 limestone compacts into the base once the surface is dry enough to roll.
Louisiana Rock Supply delivers bulk gravel, sand and topsoil across Mer Rouge and the rest of Morehouse Parish. RipRap and large river rock hold the banks, and 610 limestone builds the base under a drive or pad.

What buyers ask us before they order.
Match the size to the water. Use #4 Crushed Stone for heavy drainage and very wet ground, and Drain Rock for French drains, perimeter drains, drywells and downspout runs. #57 Limestone is the clean 3/4 inch size for general drainage and concrete work. On a slope, put RipRap on the bank itself so the water reaches the draw without cutting the face.
A clear spot to tip the load. The truck tips it in one pile, so pick a place you can work from and keep the approach open. Order online first, choose your quantity by the ton or by the yard, and pick a delivery date at checkout. Have the ground firm enough for a loaded truck to reach that spot.
A clear, level spot the truck can reach and tip in, with nothing parked in the way and no low branches or wires over the approach. If the drop is behind a gate, tell us the width when you order. Soft ground after rain is the usual reason a delivery in Mer Rouge has to be moved, so point out anywhere the truck should not drive.
