Open the calculatorLouisiana Rock Supply handles gravel and aggregate delivery in Oak Grove, LA, and the ground here shapes every load. The alluvial plains leave heavy clay that holds water, so a drive or pad starts with 610 limestone rolled in as a bound base.
Above that base, the work turns to water. Coarse stone for slope, swale and bank protection is what keeps rain from cutting the ground out from under what you built.
Start with the coarsest stone when the job is moving water or holding a bank. RipRap is angular stone for bank and shoreline armour, canal and bayou edges, and slope protection.
Its faces lock together, which is what rounded stone cannot do.
#4 Crushed Stone is a coarse clean stone at roughly 1 1/2 inch. It suits heavy drainage, erosion work and stabilising very wet ground.
Railroad Ballast is the other large open stone, for track beds, equipment pads and ground that stays soft.
For decorative edges and dry creek beds, Large River Rock gives you rounded cobble. Rounded stone does not lock together, so it is not bank armour.
Keep it to beds, borders and low banks where nothing has to hold.
Step down to the clean sizes for drainage. #57 Limestone is about 3/4 inch with no fines, and Drain Rock is washed clean for French drains, foundation perimeter drains, drywells and downspout runs.
Then the bound material. 610 Limestone, also called #610 or 610 base, runs from stone dust up to about two inches.
The fines bind it and it hardens as it is rolled, which makes it the compacted layer under drives, parking pads and flatwork.
You order online and pick a delivery date at checkout. Quantities are ordered by the ton or by the yard, and each product page has a calculator to help you size the load.
A dump truck tips the load on site in one pile, so the spot you choose is where the material stays. Oak Grove sits in West Carroll Parish, and delivery covers the city and the surrounding area, including Epps and Pioneer.
Across the Mississippi and Red River alluvial plains, the ground is recent alluvium: silty clay and clay loam, deep and heavy, with sandier ridges along the old channels and backswamp clay in the low ground between them.
That clay will not take water, and the water table sits high. The land is flat, so the ridges are the only ground that drains by itself and the low ground holds rain until a ditch carries it off.
Plan the base around that. A bound base course of 610 limestone over clay needs the water managed first, which is where a clean drainage layer earns its place.
Work runs year round here; heavy rain and saturated clay stop a compaction pass, not cold.
Erosion follows the same pattern. River and bayou banks cut, bare clay sheets water after a hard rain, and ditches and canals scour.
Coarse angular stone at those edges does the holding.

What buyers ask us before they order.
Use a clean stone with the fines washed out, because fines clog a drain. #57 Limestone at about 3/4 inch and Drain Rock both work for French drains, drywells and downspout runs. For heavy drainage or very wet ground, step up to #4 Crushed Stone. RipRap is the choice where the job is bank armour rather than a buried drain.
Pick the spot where you want the pile, because the truck tips the load there and the driver does not spread it. Make sure the ground is firm enough to carry a loaded truck and that the route in is clear of low branches and wires. Have your quantity settled before checkout, since the load is ordered by the ton or by the yard.
Wherever you tell us, as long as the truck can safely reach it. Mark the spot before the delivery and someone should be on site to point the driver to it. If nobody can be there, leave clear instructions when you order and we will follow them.
